Department of Justice sues Texas firm RealPage accusing it of helping landlords

“Several Houston apartment landlords use the company’s software
The Department of Justice and eight state attorneys general on Friday sued Texas-based real-estate tech company RealPage, accusing the company of violating antitrust laws by using its software to allegedly help landlords coordinate higher rents for millions of tenants across the country.
The outcome could affect thousands of Houston renters, because RealPage’s software is used by at least 25 Houston-area apartment owners and managers who operate or own thousands of units in the area, previous lawsuits have alleged. Unlike those similar lawsuits, the DOJ’s lawsuit doesn’t list individual apartment owners as defendants.”
