Dallas-Fort Worth home builders reported a slightly slower third quarter this year as they faced higher mortgage rates and slower job formations in an increasingly competitive market.
The question now is whether home building will pick back up after the Federal Reserve cut its key interest rate by a half point last month. More rate cuts are expected before the end of the year and through 2025. North Texas builders started 13,327 homes from July through September, a nearly 2% drop from the same period last year. The annual start space remained stable at just over 54,000 units, according to estimates from Residential Strategies Inc. The Dallas-based market research firm tracks Texas’ new home industry.”
